TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government discussed the possibility of a creative industry cooperation agreement with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (HCC), a chamber that represents more than 600 members in the entertainment industry.

The discussion took place at the 4th Indonesia-US Digital Technology Forum: Creative Economy, held in Los Angeles, United States, from October 5-8, 2026.

According to a press release from the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles received in Jakarta on Saturday, the forum was attended by an Indonesian delegation led by the Director General of America and Europe at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Grata Endah Werdaningtyas, and HCC President and CEO Ron Frierson.

The meeting discussed several potential collaborations, including talent development, co-production, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the creative industry between the HCC and Indonesia.

Grata said Indonesia views Los Angeles as a unique platform to strengthen creative economy cooperation.

“We hope that a closer relationship with Los Angeles will open opportunities for Indonesian creative talent, intellectual property, and creative industry players to connect with global networks,” Grata said.

Meanwhile, Ron Frierson stated that the HCC was honored to welcome the Indonesian delegation to a productive discussion. Ron believes that Indonesia and Hollywood share a remarkable spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship.

“We hope to transform this relationship into a meaningful partnership in entertainment, tourism, and business, benefiting our members and strengthening ties between our communities,” Frierson said.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1921, is one of the most influential chambers in California. The HCC also manages the intellectual property rights of Los Angeles’ iconic landmarks, the Hollywood Sign and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Furthermore, the forum, facilitated by the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles, brought the Indonesian delegation together with Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Dilpreet Sidhu to discuss talent development in film, animation, music, and games.

Jakarta and Los Angeles have been sister cities since 1991.

The Indonesian delegation also met with Warner Bros. Discovery, William Morris Endeavor (WME), the Los Angeles AI community, the University of Southern California, and the Indonesian creative diaspora community in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.
