Indonesia Ensures Corporal Rico's Remains are Repatriated with Full Honours
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu RI) is coordinating with UNIFIL to repatriate the remains of Corporal Rico Pramudia from Lebanon. “The government continues to coordinate with UNIFIL to ensure that the repatriation process of the remains can be carried out promptly and with full honours,” wrote Kemlu RI in a statement via its official X account @Kemlu_RI on Friday (24/4/2026) evening. “Indonesia once again strongly condemns the Israeli attack that caused the death of the Indonesian peacekeeper,” wrote Kemlu RI. Indonesia extends its highest respects to the late Rico for his service in maintaining peace in the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon. With the passing of Corporal Rico, Indonesia has now lost four TNI soldiers on duty with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon in the last month. The TNI soldiers who fell earlier were Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon, who died from an artillery attack on 29 March in an incident that also injured Corporal Rico. Then on 30 March, two TNI personnel, Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, were killed when the troop convoy they were escorting was attacked. Besides Indonesia, France has also lost two of its soldiers serving with UNIFIL amid escalating tensions in southern Lebanon after their patrol was attacked on 18 April.
