Indonesia enhances job market data to align workforce with industry
Head of the ministry’s Planning and Development Agency Anwar Sanusi said the strategy includes strengthening the Labor Market Information System (LMIS).
“The strengthening of the LMIS is being prioritized in a bid to enable both educational and industrial stakeholders to access labor requirement data in real time,” he remarked when contacted from Jakarta on Monday.
Managed by the ministry’s Labor Market Center (Pasker ID), the LMIS serves as an integrated platform for aggregating, analyzing, and disseminating manpower information, primarily designed to connect job seekers with potential employers.
Sanusi added that the government also uses the system to compile labor market data from the private sector while addressing mismatches between skills produced by educational institutions and those demanded by industry.
He further noted that the system displays information on job openings, job fairs, and training programs, offering job seekers a one-stop channel to enhance skills and secure employment.
The official emphasized that the ministry has rolled out a range of measures to strengthen the workforce beyond the link-and-match strategy.
“The Ministry of Manpower is also modernizing vocational education, forecasting future skill needs, and advancing the National Internship (MagangHub) program,” Sanusi pointed out.
He described the MagangHub program as a vital instrument to help university graduates transition from education to the job market.
The program, he continued, is designed not only to place graduates in real work environments but also to guide them through structured learning processes involving institutions and companies, supported by evolving monitoring and evaluation systems.
