Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia has emphasised the importance of a partnership that delivers tangible benefits to society and business actors, as well as the need to maintain an open, fair, and stable international system through ASEAN-European Union cooperation.

The 25th ASEAN-EU Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AEMM) took place on Monday (27/4) and Tuesday (28/4) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, attended by Indonesia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha C. Nasir representing Foreign Minister Sugiono.

“At this meeting, Indonesia generally conveyed several points, namely that the ASEAN and European Union partnership must be felt directly by society and business actors,” said spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yvonne Mewengkang in Jakarta on Thursday.

In addition, Indonesia is pushing for reforms to the multilateral system and strengthening ASEAN-EU collaboration to realise more inclusive, responsive, and relevant global governance in line with current world dynamics.

The meeting, co-chaired by Brunei and the European Union (EU), was attended by 11 foreign ministers from ASEAN member states and 26 foreign ministers from EU countries, serving as an important momentum ahead of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations in 2027.

During the AEMM, Arrmanatha also held a courtesy meeting with the Foreign Minister of Brunei and the EU High Representative, as well as bilateral meetings with several delegations from participating countries.
