Indonesia Eid travel surge: 4.41 million passengers across 37 airports
“From March 13 to 21, 2026, the cumulative number of passenger movements at our 37 airports reached 4.41 million, a 3.7 percent increase from 4.25 million passengers recorded in the same period last year,” President Director Mohammad R. Pahlevi said in a statement on Sunday (March 22).
He explained that the peak of homecoming occurred on Eid D-2 or March 18, with 568,964 passengers. Meanwhile, on Eid al-Fitr on March 21, the number of passengers traffic was recorded at 397,670.
“The homecoming transportation period ran smoothly. We are grateful that operations and services were well maintained, supported by careful planning, strong coordination, and collaboration among all airport stakeholders,” Pahlevi said.
From March 13 to 21, 2026, InJourney Airports received requests for approximately 2,500 extra flights from airlines with approximately 2,000 additional flights were realized.
Pahlevi considered this figure is quite high, as airlines generally fulfill only 60 to 70 percent of requested additional flights.
This figure demonstrates growing demand for Eid transportation, as well as strong collaboration among all airport stakeholders, he stated.
