Indonesia Distributes Hajj Sacrifice Meat to Palestinians
The Indonesian government has distributed packages of sacrificial meat (hadyu) from Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to the Palestinian people as a form of humanitarian solidarity and an implementation of social values within the Hajj pilgrimage. A symbolic handover was conducted by the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, during a visit to the Palestinian State Representative Office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
The visit was received directly by the Palestinian representative, Ehab Medhat Al-Kishawi, along with officials from the Palestinian Consulate. Also present were several officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and technical staff for Hajj affairs in Jeddah.
During the occasion, Dahnil explained that the distribution of sacrificial meat to the Palestinian people is a follow-up to the directive from the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to ensure that the social benefits of Indonesia’s Hajj implementation can be felt by the Palestinian people, who continue to face a humanitarian crisis. “President Prabowo Subianto has given great attention to the struggle and humanitarian conditions of the Palestinian people. He has mandated that the benefits of the dam from Indonesian pilgrims be expanded to assist our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” said Dahnil.
He noted that the Hajj pilgrimage possesses not only a ritual dimension connecting humans with Allah SWT but also a social dimension that brings benefits to others. “Hajj teaches piety, sacrifice, and care. Therefore, we want to ensure that the dam of Indonesian pilgrims is not only valid according to Sharia but also provides tangible benefits to those in need,” he added.
Dahnil emphasised that the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah continues to encourage more orderly, transparent, and recorded management of the dam. This step is part of the transformation of Hajj administration to ensure that the execution of dam meets both jurisprudential requirements and ensures benefits reach the rightful recipients. He explained that the management of dam through the Adahi programme is a vital instrument in ensuring that the process of slaughtering, distribution, and reporting is carried out professionally in accordance with the standards of the Saudi Arabian Government.
On the same occasion, Dahnil expressed his appreciation to the Government of Saudi Arabia and all parties involved in managing the dam for Indonesian pilgrims. “We express our gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the managers of the Adahi programme for facilitating the professional management and distribution of dam. This good cooperation allows the benefits of the Indonesian pilgrims’ dam to be felt more widely, including by our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ehab Medhat Al-Kishawi expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian Government, President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Saudi Arabian Government, and all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims for their concern for the Palestinian people. “We receive this aid not only as material support but also as a symbol of sincere brotherhood from the Indonesian people to the Palestinian people. Amidst the various challenges we face, support like this holds great meaning for the Palestinian people,” he explained.
He also conveyed respects and gratitude from the Palestinian people to all Indonesians who have consistently shown solidarity and support for the struggle and humanitarian conditions in Palestine.
According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as of 2 June 2026, the number of pilgrims recorded in the dam payment recapitulation reached 195,326 people. Of that total, 135,367 pilgrims paid their dam through the Adahi programme, 53,506 pilgrims paid their dam in Indonesia, and 6,453 pilgrims performed dam through fasting. Additionally, the number of Ifrad Hajj pilgrims was recorded at 4,084 people.
