JAKARTA, May 20 (Xinhua) Indonesia has set a target to exit by October this year from the priority watch list of intellectual property rights violators, set by the United States Trade Representatives (USTR), a government official said Thursday.

Indonesian Trade Minister Marie Elka Pangestu said,"the next assessment period (of intellectual property rights) is in October. We are preparing the documents and reasons on why we would ask to exit (from the priority watch list)."

She said that the government's related institutions are in the middle of efforts to improve the programs to tackle piracy of several products in the country.

According to the data issued by the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA), Indonesia saw an 86 percent software piracy last year, causing losses 354.7 million U.S. dollars to the intellectual rights owners.
