JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian government has condemned the erection of a banner reading ‘Rising Lion’ by Israeli forces. This statement was affirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) of Indonesia via its X account, @Kemlu_RI, on Tuesday (22/4/2026). ‘Indonesia strongly condemns and protests the placement of a banner reading ’Rising Lion’ by Israeli forces on the ruins of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza,’ the Ministry wrote in its post. The Ministry stressed that the use of military symbols and propaganda on the ruins of a destroyed hospital constitutes a provocative act. The Ministry also affirmed that the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza is a civilian facility. The hospital is fully dedicated to providing healthcare services to the people of Gaza, not a place for military propaganda or intimidating messages. ‘Such actions represent an insult to a humanitarian facility built from the solidarity of the Indonesian people to assist the Palestinian people,’ it asserted. ‘Indonesia urges Israel to halt all actions that violate the protection of civilian infrastructure and to ensure accountability for attacks on medical facilities in Gaza,’ it firmly stated.
