Indonesia Condemns Israeli Attacks in Gaza and Ceasefire Violations
The Indonesian government has strongly condemned the continuation of Israel’s military attacks in the Gaza Strip, which have targeted civilians and public infrastructure. These actions are regarded as grave violations of international law and a deliberate attempt to obstruct the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
In an official statement on platform X on Wednesday (5 August 2026), the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the attacks have worsened the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Jakarta urged Tel Aviv, as a party to the ceasefire agreement, to permanently cease its military operations and honour the international commitments it has made.
Meanwhile, Indonesia welcomed the stance taken by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, which have accepted the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the peace plan. This step is considered consistent with UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025).
“This is an important step in the conflict resolution process,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in its statement.
The condemnation follows a fresh attack on Sunday (2 August) that killed at least 18 Palestinians, including three children and an unborn baby.
Ironically, the attack took place only two days after US President Donald Trump, together with the Board of Peace, announced the implementation of the next phase of a ceasefire that was supposed to have taken effect on 10 October 2025.
Palestinian officials reported that since the agreement was signed, Israel has committed thousands of violations through air strikes, arrests and military raids. This situation has led Palestinians to view the ceasefire as nothing more than an “illusion” amid an ongoing blockade of humanitarian aid.
The protracted conflict, which began on 8 October 2023, has left a trail of massive destruction across the Gaza Strip.
Indonesia called on all parties to guarantee full protection for civilians, medical personnel and humanitarian workers. Furthermore, access for humanitarian aid must be ensured to be safe, swift and unhindered.
In closing, Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a credible political process towards Palestinian independence through a Two-State Solution, which it regards as the only path towards a just and lasting peace in the Middle East region.
