Indonesia Committed to Strengthening Strategic Partnership with Australia
The Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Todotua Pasaribu, has reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to continuously strengthening its strategic partnership with Australia through increased high-quality investment.
“Both countries possess complementary economies, supported by the increasingly mature IA-CEPA (Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) framework,” stated Deputy Minister Pasaribu in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to him, Indonesia and Australia are at an ideal momentum due to their mutually reinforcing economic relationship. Through a series of working visits, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM has emphasised its commitment to strengthening this strategic partnership via the enhancement of quality investments.
Meetings with investors, dialogues with business players, and participation in the Indonesia-Australia Business Summit 2026 are expected to serve as concrete steps to drive investment realisation. These investments aim to support downstreaming, infrastructure development, food security, energy transition, and sustainable economic growth for both nations.
“We invite Australian investors to be part of Indonesia’s new chapter of economic growth through investments oriented towards downstreaming, infrastructure, food security, energy transition, and the green economy,” he said while serving as a keynote speaker at the Indonesia-Australia Business Summit (IABS) for Indonesia Updates 2026 in Sydney, Australia, on Tuesday (30/06/2026).
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, noted that a business forum between Indonesia and Belarus discussed economic cooperation that could reach approximately US$500 million during a meeting held a few days prior.
Speaking to journalists at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, Sugiono stated that the meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on Thursday is a follow-up to President Prabowo’s visit to Belarus on 15 July 2025, which resulted in commitments to expand bilateral cooperation.
“If I am not mistaken, the reports indicate 500 million (US dollars), and I believe both Presidents agreed that the figures in both trade and investment are areas that need to be increased for the progress of both countries,” Sugiono remarked, referring to the results of the business forum held on Tuesday (30/06).
