Jakarta (ANTARA) - Economic cooperation between Indonesia and China continues to strengthen, as reflected in the value of bilateral international trade, which recorded a growth of 16.6 percent over the first three months of this year, thereby maintaining China as Indonesia’s largest trading partner.

Both exports and imports recorded double-digit increases. The value of exports to China was recorded at $16.93 billion, with year-on-year growth reaching 15.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the value of imports increased by 17.3 percent to $22.11 billion.

The trade value between the two countries was recorded at $39.04 billion (1 USD = Rp17,405) in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, showing a double-digit rise compared to $33.47 billion in the same period last year.

Thus, China remains Indonesia’s primary trading partner in both export and import sectors. The value of exports to China contributes 25.3 percent, or about a quarter, of total national exports, while the import contribution from that country reaches 36 percent.
