The meeting, scheduled for July 29, will examine housing policies and development strategies in both countries, Sirait, popularly known as Ara, said here Tuesday.

The ministers will also explore potential cooperation in housing technology and other areas of residential development, he said.

“We will discuss areas where we can cooperate, including technology and other related fields,” Ara said.

Indonesia is prioritizing vertical housing in urban areas as limited land availability remains a major challenge in meeting housing demand, he said.

Indonesia’s housing backlog remains a major challenge, with 9.6 million housing units needed to address the national homeownership gap, based on the 2025 National Socioeconomic Survey.

The policy also follows President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to optimize land use by limiting horizontal expansion and promoting vertical residential development, Ara said.

Land provided by the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry will be used to develop apartments and satellite cities supporting public housing, Ara said.

Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Nusron Wahid said his ministry would support the program by providing large-scale land for housing projects nationwide.

Potential sites have been identified in several regions, including Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi, the ministry said.
