Indonesia brings 28 enterprises to expand food exports at Foodex Japan 2026
Jakarta — Indonesia will facilitate 28 business operators to exhibit at “The 51st International Food and Beverages Exhibition 2026” or Foodex Japan, which is being held at Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo on 10-13 March 2026.
The exhibition participants consist of 15 companies selected through curation by the Ministry of Trade and 13 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Bank Indonesia’s Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) programme.
In a press statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on Friday, Deputy Chief of the Indonesian Representative Office in Tokyo Maria Renata Hutagalung stated that Indonesia’s participation in the exhibition reflects the commitment to expand the penetration of national products in the Japanese and global markets.
“Our participation at Foodex Japan 2026 reflects Indonesia’s strong commitment to expanding its footprint in the Japanese and global markets,” she said.
She noted that Japan is a key partner for Indonesia, with bilateral trade relations continuing to grow, as evidenced by Indonesian exports of food, beverages and agricultural products to Japan reaching USD 2.13 billion (approximately Rp36.1 trillion) or increasing 5 per cent compared with the previous year.
Maria is optimistic that participation in Foodex Japan 2026 can further increase bilateral trade and business collaboration, particularly through the implementation of the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement.
She also encouraged the participants, consisting of 28 Indonesian companies and MSMEs, to take advantage of the opportunity to explore new business partnerships, establish long-term cooperation, and gain market insights to strengthen product competitiveness.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo will continue to provide full support for Indonesia’s promotion in the food product trade sector to further increase sales of Indonesian food products in the Japanese market,” she added.
Indonesia’s participation also resulted in seven purchasing agreements involving CV Hortindo Agrifarm, PT Mayora Tbk, PT Dua Kelinci, Helda’s Snack, Sila Artisan Tea and Arva Tempe Chips for frozen processed agricultural products, traditional snacks, confectionery products and processed tempeh.
Foodex Japan is an annual trade exhibition held by the Japan Management Association (JMA) and is one of the largest B2B food and beverage promotion events in Japan and the East Asian region.
Each year, the exhibition is attended by more than 3,000 companies from various countries and attracts more than 60,000 visitors consisting of business operators, buyers, distributors, professionals and academics.
