Indonesia-Belarus Cooperation Opportunities Worth Rp8.9 Trillion: Dump Trucks and Electric Buses in Focus
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has revealed that the government sees trade opportunities for heavy agricultural equipment and mining machinery, including dump trucks, from Belarus, which are in high demand in Indonesia. This was disclosed by Airlangga during the signing of 17 memoranda of understanding by Indonesian and Belarusian business actors in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6/2026). ‘I see great opportunities in the heavy agricultural equipment and mining machinery sector from Belarus, which is greatly needed in Indonesia,’ Airlangga said. According to Airlangga, the need for dump trucks for mining, particularly coal, could reach US$800 million per year. Furthermore, Indonesia requires the modernisation of agricultural tools to increase the nation’s crude palm oil production, which has reached 50 million tonnes. In addition, with the development of the electric vehicle battery ecosystem in Indonesia, Airlangga expressed hope that Belarus could collaborate with Indonesia to produce more environmentally friendly equipment, such as electric buses. The government has set an ambitious target for strengthening these economic ties. Airlangga stated that the investment value resulting from Indonesia-Belarus cooperation is expected to reach US$500 million, or approximately Rp8.95 trillion, in the near future, following the implementation of the 17 MoUs and the acceleration of the ratification of the trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union. Regarding the agreement with the EAEU, Airlangga noted that more than 90 per cent of Indonesian products have the potential to receive zero per cent import duty facilities. He therefore encouraged business leaders from both countries to explore this potential in order to forge new partnerships.
