Indonesia Becomes First Country to Implement Mandatory B50 Biodiesel, Says Prabowo

President Prabowo Subianto has declared that Indonesia is now the first country globally to enforce a mandatory B50 biodiesel policy. Speaking at the launch event at the KM 57 Rest Area in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, the President stated that this step is a crucial milestone in the nation’s drive for energy independence and demonstrates Indonesia’s capability to harness its natural resources for the people’s benefit. He emphasised that the implementation of the B50 mandate is not merely a technological achievement but proof that the nation can process its own natural wealth to strengthen national resilience. The President noted that the survival of a nation is heavily determined by its ability to independently meet its needs for food, energy, and water resources. Without resilience in these three sectors, he argued, a country would struggle to maintain its sovereignty and achieve prosperity for its people. Furthermore, President Prabowo revealed that Indonesia has achieved food self-sufficiency faster than the government’s initial target, reaching the goal within one year instead of the planned four. He stressed that even before his inauguration, he had directed his core team and advisors to prioritise the attainment of self-sufficiency in both food and energy, insisting that the country must stop importing fuel and food to strengthen national sovereignty.
