The Indonesian team scored another victory at the Asian/Oceania zone of the 2002 women's team Federation Cup by crushing New Zealand 3-0 in Guangzhou, China, on Thursday.
Young Indonesian rising starlet Angelique Widjaja started the onslaught by beating Ilke Gers 6-4, 6-1 in the first singles match, as reported by Antara news agency.
Indonesia's number one Wynne Prakusya then sealed Indonesia's victory by defeating Shelley Stephens 6-4, 6-4 in the second singles match.
Angelique and Wynne then secured a clean sweep in the doubles match with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Stephens, who teamed up with Leanne Baker.
The victory raises Indonesia to second place in Group A behind South Korea who defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 on Thursday. Group A also includes India.
Indonesia will meet South Korea on Friday to determine Group A's leader and runner-up on Friday. Meanwhile, host China will face Japan in Group B.
Also playing in Group B are Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
The winner of each group will then face the other group's runner-up on Saturday to secure two berths in the World Group playoff.
"This year there will be two teams who can advance to the World Group as compared to last year, when only one team could. I have asked the referee about the change," team official August Ferry Raturandang told Antara.
"With the change in regulations, the real fight will take place on Saturday when we have to win if we want to get a place in the World Group playoff," he added.
