Indonesia as ISF Deputy Commander: Lemhannas Governor Says 'Not Just Empty Talk!'
Lemhannas (National Resilience Institute) Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily has responded positively to Indonesia becoming Deputy Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF). According to him, the move represents concrete action towards peace in Gaza.
“Firstly, I believe Indonesia’s involvement, including serving as Deputy Commander of the International Stabilization Force established by the Board of Peace, demonstrates that Indonesia’s presence is highly strategic and important within the Board of Peace,” Ace told reporters on Monday (23/2/2026).
Furthermore, Ace assessed that Indonesia is regarded as important by the nations within the Board of Peace. “And this shows that Indonesia is considered a very important country within the Board of Peace, one that holds a key role in the context of creating stability in the conflict between Palestine and Israel,” he added.
Ace viewed the ISF Deputy Commander position as also providing Indonesia with a strategic foothold to champion peace in Palestine. According to him, it also represents tangible action by the government in advocating for Palestine.
“Therefore, this position demonstrates that Indonesia is taking concrete steps — not just talk, not just empty words — and that the effort to achieve peace and push for Palestinian independence is being carried out through concrete action via the mechanism known as the Board of Peace, implemented through the deployment of peacekeeping forces,” he said.
He also welcomed the planned deployment of 8,000 Indonesian peacekeeping troops to the Rafah area. “One aspect of this is the planned involvement of 8,000 troops in the peace efforts in Rafah, particularly to establish security stabilisation there,” Ace continued.
Previously, at the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington DC, United States, on Wednesday (19/2) local time, ISF Commander Major General Jasper Jeffers announced that he had offered the deputy commander position to Indonesia and confirmed that Indonesia had accepted the offer.
At the same occasion, President Prabowo Subianto confirmed the matter and committed to deploying Indonesia’s finest personnel to support the sustainable peace process in Gaza.
“They asked us to be deputy commander,” said President Prabowo, as reported by Antara on Wednesday (19/2).
