TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police’s Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) arrested 11 individuals linked and affiliated with a terrorist network since Friday, October 2, 2026. The anti-terror police unit suspects that they are connected to the Daulah Islamiyah terrorist group, among others.

Densus 88 spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, said the arrests were made after being tipped about suspicious activities across six Indonesian provinces: West Java, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Riau, and North Maluku.

Mayndra said these activities included network consolidation, training activities, and the dissemination of propaganda. “Recruitment, both in-person and through social media, as well as involvement in conspiring to commit terrorist acts,” Mayndra said in a written statement on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

Preliminary investigation indicates cross-regional connections between the suspects, particularly through online meetings, indoctrination, network consolidation, and training activities. Mayndra said the team had discovered a pattern suspected to be the modus operandi of the alleged terrorists.

This pattern involved holding virtual meetings to connect supporters from various regions. “During the investigation, we also discovered alleged training activities for some of the suspects, including physical training, shooting, and other training activities related to militant terrorist activities,” he said.

Densus 88 has now named 11 suspects in the alleged terrorism case. They are HN, 43; SM alias NM, 52; HA, 45; YDKAP, 22; Y, 36; S, 49; A, 32; CG, 29; MF, 37; AF, 26; and MW, 42.

Densus 88 is conducting a series of searches and raids after arresting the 11 suspected terrorists. “This includes examining evidence, questioning witnesses, and probing the suspects based on existing standard operating procedures,” Mayndra said.

The investigation into the alleged terrorist network is underway, as police are now looking into the seized evidence. “This law enforcement is part of the National Police’s efforts to conduct early detection and prevent potential acts of terrorism,” he said.

Previously, one of the suspected terrorists arrested by Densus 88 in Surakarta City was YDK, or YDKAP, 22, from Jebres District, late Thursday, October 1, 2026. His family only learned of the arrest after police came to their home and handed over an arrest warrant on Friday morning, October 2, 2026.

Endro Sudarsono, the representative of the suspect’s family, said YDK could not be contacted since Thursday morning, after collecting his salary at his workplace.

Despite learning of YDK’s arrest, the family stated they had not received an explanation regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest. They questioned the events allegedly related to YDK, including the time, location, and role.

“The family has questions about YDK’s case. This relates to the incident, where, when, what his role was, and whether there were any victims,” said Endro when met in Jebres, Surakarta, on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

The family is also concerned about YDK’s condition during the investigation, expressing hope that the legal process respects YDK’s right and prioritizes the principle of the presumption of innocence.

“The family hopes that YDK is well and in good health,” said Endro, especially free from “intimidation, abuse, and the deprivation of his dignity during the legal process.”
