Indonesia Appointed Deputy Commander of ISF in Gaza
Washington DC — Indonesia has been appointed Deputy Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF), the multinational peacekeeping force for Gaza.
The appointment was announced at the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP) in Washington DC on Thursday, 19 February 2026 local time.
The ISF was established with the objective of creating peace in Gaza, Palestine. Indonesia joins the force alongside Morocco, Albania, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Egypt, and Jordan.
The announcement was made directly by ISF Commander, Major General Jasper Jeffers.
"I wish to announce that I have offered, and Indonesia has accepted, the position of Deputy Commander of the ISF. With these initial steps, we will help bring the security that Gaza needs for future prosperity and lasting peace," Jeffers said.
He added that the ISF would focus on stabilising conditions in Gaza to enable civilian governance to function. The ISF has been mandated to oversee the ceasefire and security stability, not confrontation.
Indonesia will deploy 8,000 military personnel as part of the ISF in Gaza. The Indonesian armed forces participating in the ISF will be assigned to non-combat, humanitarian, medical, and reconstruction missions.
At the inaugural BoP meeting, President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to supporting the realisation of world peace, particularly in Gaza, Palestine.
"The achievement of this ceasefire is real. We are ready to deploy these forces to actively participate in the International Stabilization Force to ensure this peace succeeds," Prabowo stated.
He also emphasised that Indonesia's core intention in joining the Board of Peace is to secure peace in Gaza, Palestine. This reflects Indonesia's longstanding commitment, which it has consistently championed before the nations of the world.
"Indonesia fully agrees and is wholly committed to this plan. That is why we joined the Board of Peace. We are committed to its success. We know there will be many obstacles and difficulties, but we are very optimistic," Prabowo affirmed.
