Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre Secures Rp2.83 Trillion from Scam Operations
Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC) has secured Rp2.832 trillion from transnational financial scam operations through coordinated efforts with nine authorities from Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Maldives, Thailand, Macau, Brunei, and Canada.
The joint operation, titled Operation FRONTIER+, ran from 10 March to 7 May 2026, involving over 3,200 personnel targeting various scam methods.
‘Among others, online shopping scams, job scams, investment fraud, impersonation of government officials, and scams pretending to be relatives or friends,’ according to a Financial Services Authority (OJK) press release on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
IASC also reported that the OJK-led coordination centre arrested 3,018 individuals aged between 13 and 85. Alongside law enforcement, IASC investigated 7,553 suspected fraud network members. The operation uncovered over 138,000 fraud cases causing approximately US$752 million (Rp13.229 trillion) in losses.
The joint operation froze around 102,000 bank accounts linked to fraud, and secured criminal proceeds exceeding US$161 million (Rp2.832 trillion).
Authorities established the FRONTIER+ international collaboration platform as a strategic move to strengthen global coordination in combating scams. The platform involves representatives from anti-scam centres across 14 jurisdictions, including Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Maldives, Thailand, Macau, Brunei, Canada, Australia, United Arab Emirates (Dubai), South Africa, and the United States.
FRONTIER+ serves as a real-time intelligence and information exchange hub, supporting regular cross-border joint operations. The platform will continue expanding by involving more countries to enhance the effectiveness of global fraud enforcement.
The Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre is a central coordination forum led by OJK through the PASTI Task Force to accelerate responses to financial transaction scams. IASC digitally connects victim reports to relevant financial institutions (banks, e-wallets, etc.) for prompt action.
