Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has announced that Indonesia and the United States have completed negotiations on the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), and are currently preparing for the signing ceremony and implementation phase.

Airlangga said the conclusion of the ART represents an important milestone achieved through intensive and constructive negotiations between the two countries.

“This agreement demonstrates Indonesia’s seriousness in creating a business environment that is increasingly open, transparent, and investment-friendly,” he said in a statement on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

The agreement reflects both nations’ commitment to strengthening market access, simplifying trade barriers, enhancing business certainty, and opening broader and more sustainable investment opportunities.

Airlangga made the remarks on the sidelines of President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the US-Indonesia Business Summit 2026 on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

Airlangga stated that the US is Indonesia’s primary strategic partner in trade and investment. He said the forum served as an important moment to deepen private sector collaboration between the two countries, particularly in digital innovation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, critical minerals, supply chain resilience, and energy transition.

The Business Summit also served as a strategic dialogue forum between the Indonesian Government and leaders of prominent US companies, as well as a platform for the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoU) with a total potential value of approximately USD 38.4 billion.

These commitments cover the Agriculture Sector (USD 2.5 billion) and the Industrial Sector (USD 35.9 billion), including cooperation in semiconductors and strategic industrial materials.

Meanwhile, Prabowo said his visit to the US was to finalise the important trade agreement (Agreement on Reciprocal Trade — ART), which holds significant meaning for businesses, investors, and supply chains across the Pacific.

“Indonesia and the US choose deeper economic cooperation, stronger market access, and greater certainty for businesses,” he affirmed.

Going forward, the synergy between the governments and private sectors of both nations is expected to expand higher-quality investment, deepen integration into global supply chains, and create productive and highly competitive employment.

This increasingly close collaboration forms a vital foundation for maintaining economic stability and accelerating structural transformation towards inclusive and sustainable growth.
