The effort was discussed during an audience between the ministry and representatives of the UAE Embassy received by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie.

“We want to expand the presence of international students in Indonesia because it plays an important role in improving the reputation and global ranking of universities,” the deputy minister said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Christie assessed that the presence of international students could make a real contribution to enhancing the reputation of higher education institutions while strengthening the position of Indonesian universities in various global rankings.

“The presence of international students is also important in bringing diversity and strengthening international perspectives within universities. Such dynamics also encourage institutions to continuously improve the quality of learning,” she said.

In line with the effort, she informed that the ministry is preparing an initiative to establish a Center for Foreign Students, which is expected to increase the attractiveness of Indonesian universities while supporting a more integrated higher education internationalization ecosystem.

In addition to student mobility, the meeting also discussed plans for visits by UAE students to Indonesia, where they will visit several universities to learn about the higher education system, culture, and further study opportunities.

In addition to higher education cooperation, the meeting also discussed potential collaboration in digital talent development through the 10 Million Coders program initiated by the UAE government.

The program aims to enhance the capacity of young people in artificial intelligence (AI) and coding as part of efforts to strengthen digital transformation and a knowledge-based economy.
