The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM, CSIS Indonesia, and ECSSR, organised the Indonesia–UAE Economic Dialogue 2026 at the InterContinental Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday (29/09/2026).

As reported by Investor Daily, this strategic forum brought together government officials, policy experts, sovereign wealth funds, and corporate leaders from both nations to formulate concrete steps in responding to global geopolitical dynamics.

The Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Judha Nugrahea, emphasised the importance of maintaining the momentum of bilateral economic relations following the entry into force of the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUAE-CEPA) to build long-term resilience.

“This cooperation is not merely about expanding market access, but serves as a pillar of mutual economic resilience in facing global economic shocks,” said Judha Nugrahea.

This strengthening effort was also supported by representatives from the UAE government, who assessed that this comprehensive agreement is crucial in facilitating investment flows and boosting cross-border private sector collaboration.

The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM stated that the Indonesian government’s current focus is centred on accelerating industrial downstreaming and strengthening global supply chains. The IUAE-CEPA framework serves as the primary foundation for expanding the scale of high-quality investment within the country.

During a discussion session titled ‘Strategic Investment’, key speakers including the Executive Director of CSIS Indonesia, Dr Yose Rizal Damuri, and the Chairman & CEO of the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), Oki Ramadhana, analysed opportunities in digital transformation and future infrastructure development.

The subsequent session highlighted the utilisation of IUAE-CEPA to mitigate global risks, where panellists agreed on the importance of accelerating progress from mere market access towards the simplification of investment facilitation and regulatory harmonisation.

The Director of the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre in Abu Dhabi, Nova Herlangga Masrie, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to overseeing all policy recommendations to ensure they transform into real investment projects.

Bilateral relations between Indonesia and the UAE have continued to accelerate since the signing of the IUAE-CEPA in 2022 and its implementation in 2023, with an investment scope covering renewable energy, port infrastructure, data centres, and food security.
