Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, who was accompanied by Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) Chief Strategy Officer Thomas Couteaudier, in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/6/2026). During the meeting, the two countries agreed to strengthen their strategic economic partnership as reflected in various intensive bilateral forums, as part of a joint effort to drive inclusive and sustainable growth. “Indonesia welcomes the commitment of the UAE and global businesses such as Louis Dreyfus Company to expand economic cooperation in Indonesia. We encourage increased investment that supports downstream processing, food security, and strengthening the national supply chain,” said Minister Airlangga. Airlangga stated that the UAE is one of Indonesia’s strategic partners in the Middle East. The implementation of the Indonesia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-UAE CEPA) is expected to further increase trade and investment flows between the two countries. Ambassador Abdulla also expressed his appreciation for the consistently positive development of bilateral relations. “The UAE sees Indonesia as an important partner in the Southeast Asian region and is open to expanding collaboration in various economic sectors,” Abdulla stated. Regarding the presence of UAE businesses in Indonesia, Airlangga affirmed that the Indonesian Government provides full support for the sustainability and development of business activities of UAE companies, including LDC, which has operated in Indonesia for 25 years. In a broader context, Abdulla conveyed that Abu Dhabi Export (ADEX) has expressed an investment commitment with a primary focus on strengthening national food security. This commitment reflects the UAE’s strategic confidence in the potential of Indonesia’s food and agribusiness sector, while also serving as a foundation for a mutually beneficial long-term partnership. Regarding infrastructure development, Abu Dhabi Ports (ADP) is also ready to support the development of airports in Bali through a feasibility study. Furthermore, both parties agreed on the importance of maintaining the intensity of bilateral communication to ensure the various commitments that have been built can be effectively realised. “The Governments of Indonesia and the UAE agreed to continue strengthening investment synergy, facilitating business certainty for strategic investors, and encouraging the acceleration of priority project implementation for shared prosperity,” he explained.
