Indonesia, together with Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has condemned attacks by Israel against the Grand Mosque in the village of Jiljilya and the Al-Farouq Mosque in northern Ramallah. The statement was conveyed via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ X account, quoted on Friday (19/6), noting that Israel carried out attacks against Palestine in the West Bank, including the assault on the two mosques. “These attacks constitute a clear violation of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites, international law, including international humanitarian law, and UN resolutions,” read the statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Israeli attacks and illegal actions continue in the Palestinian Territories. According to the Indonesian government, this triggers instability and undermines international efforts to achieve peace. The foreign ministers of the condemning countries urged the international community to fulfil its legal and moral responsibility by pressuring Israel to stop the attacks in the West Bank. Indonesia also reaffirmed its full support for the Palestinian people. As reported on Wednesday evening (17/6), two mosques in the West Bank, Palestine, were attacked by Israeli settlers. Citing Anadolu, the perpetrators partially burned the mosques and wrote Hebrew slogans on the mosque walls, with the attacks targeting Palestinian cities, places of worship, land, and property.
