Indonesia and Thailand Agree to Strengthen Halal Industry Cooperation

With their respective strengths in the halal industry sector, Indonesia and Thailand can support one another in building regional and global halal industry value chains.

Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have agreed to strengthen cooperation on halal industry development through the building of regional and global value chains as part of the two countries’ strategic partnership.

The agreement was conveyed by President Prabowo during a joint press statement with the Thai PM at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday evening.

“With their respective strengths in the halal industry sector, Indonesia and Thailand can support one another in building regional and global halal industry value chains,” said Prabowo.

During the bilateral meeting, the two leaders also agreed to expand investment, improve market access, and strengthen partnerships between business actors.

These efforts will be realised through the establishment of a Joint Trade Committee as a mechanism for discussing business opportunities while addressing trade barriers.

Prabowo said the sectors that will be the focus of cooperation include food security, logistics, supply chains, energy, and the digital economy.

Beyond the economic sphere, Indonesia and Thailand are committed to strengthening political and security cooperation.

On that occasion, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the Thai Government for its support in facilitating the repatriation of Indonesian citizens who fell victim to online fraud.

“The numbers are quite large, approaching nearly one thousand Indonesian citizens. This is very meaningful assistance. It demonstrates the close relationship between Indonesia and Thailand,” said Prabowo.
