Indonesia and Thailand Affirm Commitment to Peace in the Middle East and Myanmar

President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have emphasised the importance of resolving the conflict in the Middle East through diplomatic channels and respect for international law. “We also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and stressed the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic dialogue and respect for international law,” Prabowo said during a joint press statement with PM Anutin at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday. The President stated that Indonesia and Thailand share the same view that the protracted conflict in the Middle East must end soon. During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed the situation in Myanmar and expressed support for ASEAN’s efforts to push for the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus. Prabowo asserted that Indonesia and Thailand, as founding nations of ASEAN, have a shared responsibility to maintain regional peace, stability, and security. “We reaffirmed the importance of maintaining ASEAN unity and centrality as the foundation for ASEAN peace, stability, and prosperity,” he said. “I am confident that Indonesia and Thailand will continue to ensure this strategic partnership brings tangible benefits for the prosperity of the people of both our countries,” Prabowo concluded.
