Indonesia and Thailand Adopt Strategic Partnership Roadmap

President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have adopted a Strategic Partnership Roadmap for 2026–2030 to serve as a guide for strengthening bilateral cooperation over the next five years. The agreement was announced by the two leaders during a joint press statement following their bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday. “Today’s meeting produced a number of concrete achievements, namely the adoption of the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 as a joint guide to strengthen bilateral cooperation going forward,” said Prabowo. The roadmap serves as a guideline for implementing the strategic partnership across various fields after Indonesia and Thailand elevated their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in 2025. Prior to delivering the joint press statement, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Anutin witnessed the presentation of the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 document in the Credential Room at Merdeka Palace. “I am pleased that both sides have agreed on the Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030, which will guide our cooperation in the next phase, to create prosperity and mutually beneficial cooperation for the people of both countries,” said Anutin. On the same occasion, Indonesia and Thailand also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of education. The document was signed by Indonesian Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti and Thai Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong, and then presented to the two leaders. “Currently, there are more than 800 Thai students studying at Indonesian universities. Indonesia is quite a popular country for Thai students, especially those from provinces in Thailand’s southern border region,” he said. In addition to government-to-government cooperation, President Prabowo also welcomed the signing of memoranda of understanding between business actors, including between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and TransNusa in the fields of tourism and flight connectivity, as well as cooperation on organic waste processing.
