Indonesia and seven countries accuse Israel of obstructing Gaza peace plan

Indonesia, together with Jordan and six other countries, considers that Israel has obstructed peace efforts related to the conflict in the Gaza Strip and other occupied Palestinian territories after the Zionist regime in Tel Aviv rejected the implementation roadmap of US President Donald Trump’s plan, according to a joint statement by the foreign ministers of the eight countries on Sunday (16/8).

Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu said on 9 August that his government rejected the 15-point plan from the Board of Peace for the Gaza Strip, while asserting that its military would not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas weapons were fully dismantled.

“Such a rejection confirms that Israel now bears responsibility for the obstruction of efforts to achieve peace in Gaza and other occupied Palestinian territories,” the statement published by Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X said.

The statement was signed by the foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt.

The foreign ministers of the eight Muslim-majority countries added that the roadmap had been accepted by Palestinian factions.

Meanwhile, Israel’s rejection “directly threatens to derail the extensive efforts made by US President Trump to end the war in Gaza.”

“The ministers further urge the Board of Peace, with the active support and engagement of the United States, to take immediate and concrete steps in accordance with its mandate to preserve the integrity of the Comprehensive Plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation,” the statement said.

At the end of July, the Board of Peace announced Hamas’s agreement to the implementation roadmap for the subsequent stages of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The plan calls for the gradual transfer of control of the Gaza Strip to the National Committee for Gaza Administration (NCAG), with the establishment of a special body to monitor violations committed by both Hamas and Israel.
