Indonesia and Malaysia Strengthen Cross-Border Security Synergy at Jagoi Babang PLBN
The Cross-Border Post (PLBN) of the National Border Management Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNPP RI) in Jagoi Babang received a visit from the Malaysian Army Chief (PTD), General Dato Azhan MD Othman, on Saturday (28/3). The visit was conducted to directly inspect the conditions of the Indonesia-Malaysia border area while strengthening cross-border security coordination. The delegation was accompanied by the Commander of the XII/Tanjungpura Military Region, Major General TNI Novi Rubadi Sugito, and the Head of PLBN Jagoi Babang, Misdo J. Purba. During the agenda, the Malaysian PTD along with his staff conducted an inspection of the Main Building of PLBN Jagoi Babang, particularly the arrival area, to directly observe the cross-border service facilities. The inspection focused on the supporting infrastructure for CIQS (Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security) services as part of efforts to ensure safe, orderly, and optimal services for border crossers. In addition to inspecting the PLBN facilities, the delegation also visited the Gapma Koki Jagoi Babang Post. At this location, General Dato Azhan MD Othman provided directions to TNI and Malaysian Army (TDM) personnel, emphasising the importance of cooperation in maintaining border area security. According to him, solid synergy is needed to prevent various potential disruptions, including smuggling and cross-border illegal activities. Meanwhile, Major General TNI Novi stated that the visit has strategic significance in strengthening Indonesia-Malaysia border security coordination. He affirmed the TNI’s commitment to continue synergising with the TDM in safeguarding national sovereignty and border area stability. “This visit is an important part in strengthening coordination and synergy for securing the Indonesia-Malaysia border area. Collaboration between agencies is very necessary to maintain stability and support services in the border area,” said Major General TNI Novi in his statement on Sunday (29/3/2026). On the other hand, Misdo J. Purba expressed appreciation for the visit of the Malaysian PTD and his staff. He hopes that the established collaboration can continue to be strengthened to create a safe, orderly border area that benefits the communities of both countries. For information, the event was also attended by members of the Sub-District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam) Jagoi Babang as well as representatives of CIQS agencies stationed at PLBN Jagoi Babang. As the nation’s showcase in the border area, PLBN Jagoi Babang, managed by the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) RI, continues to commit to supporting cross-sector and cross-country synergy strengthening to maintain security and order in the Indonesia-Malaysia border area.
