Indonesia and Macau Explore Cooperation in Halal Industry and Investment
Indonesia and Macau are exploring cooperation in the sectors of trade, investment, Muslim-friendly tourism, and the halal industry. This exploration took place during a series of visits by a Macau delegation to Jakarta, led by Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Sam Hou Fai, in September 2026.
The visit included the Macao Economic, Trade and Tourism Investment Promotion Seminar (Indonesia) held in Jakarta on 1 September 2026. According to a press release received on Monday (21/9/2026), PT HOP Dharma Indonesia served as the facilitator for the agenda and business meetings during the delegation’s visit.
The forum brought together over 400 representatives from government bodies, the business community, associations, and tourism operators. Through this agenda, PT HOP Dharma Indonesia facilitated more than 120 business matching sessions, resulting in 36 signed cooperation agreements.
These agreements cover the tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions), high-technology, and traditional medicine sectors, as well as the development of services targeting the Muslim market.
PT HOP Dharma Indonesia also facilitated a visit for the Macau and Mainland China delegation to the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). The visit discussed opportunities for halal product development, as well as the administrative requirements and certification guarantees for Macau products entering the Indonesian market.
In addition to the halal industry, the delegation reviewed cooperation opportunities in the healthcare sector. The group visited the Biomedical Genome Science Initiative (BGSi) under the Indonesian Ministry of Health to observe genomic research, as well as Mandaya Royal Hospital Puri to review hospital services in Indonesia.
The series of visits also included stops at PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), PT Kimia Farma Tbk., and the Kapal Api Group manufacturing facility in Karawang to observe manufacturing capacity and technology.
