Indonesia and Kazakhstan Discuss Trade Corridor to Boost Economic Ties
Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Anis Matta and Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev have discussed the development of trade routes and corridors between Indonesia and Kazakhstan as part of efforts to strengthen economic relations. The discussion took place during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of Anis Matta’s working visit to Kazakhstan, which began on Saturday (27/6).
According to a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received on Wednesday, both parties assessed that trade connectivity is a crucial factor in encouraging the flow of goods, investment, and broader economic interaction. During the meeting, Anis Matta stressed the importance of building complementary economic cooperation. He noted that economic relations between Indonesia and Kazakhstan should not merely be directed at increasing trade volume in general, but must also be built on mapping sectors that complement each other and provide added value for both parties.
Beyond economic cooperation, the two countries also explored strengthening people-to-people ties through the facilitation of visit visas, the opening of direct flights between Indonesia and Kazakhstan, and collaboration in the creative industry sector. Both sides also exchanged views on regional developments and affirmed the importance of resolving various issues through intensive dialogue.
As part of his visit, Anis Matta also met with the Grand Mufti of Kazakhstan, Nauryzbai Kazhy Taganuly, to discuss halal certification cooperation. He also held meetings with CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay and IOFS Director General Berik Aryn to discuss global food security and the role of Indonesia and Kazakhstan in promoting global peace and stability.
