The shared commitment resulted from a bilateral meeting held at the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo on Tuesday, according to an official statement received in Jakarta.

“We agreed that both Japan and Indonesia will make great efforts to convince warring parties to pursue de-escalation. If necessary, we are ready to serve as mediators to facilitate measures oriented toward de-escalation and peace,” Prabowo said.

On the bilateral sphere, the president emphasized that longstanding ties between Indonesia and Japan provide a concrete example of collaboration contributing to regional stability amid growing global geopolitical challenges.

He added that the two countries are on the same page about the need to advance their enduring cooperation while appreciating Japan for its multifaceted support for Indonesia’s economic and human development.

“We are deeply grateful that a large number of young Indonesian talents are afforded the opportunity to study various fields in Japan. Moreover, many Indonesian workers are allowed to enroll in internship programs here,” he remarked.

Earlier in his speech, the head of state conveyed his appreciation to the Japanese government for its warm welcome, highlighting both Tuesday’s ceremony and his reception by Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace the day before.

“I would also like to reiterate our commitment to strengthening relations between Japan and Indonesia that have long been well maintained,” he told the Japanese delegation.

President Prabowo concluded by inviting PM Takaichi to make a reciprocal visit to Indonesia.

The Akasaka Palace meeting marked a new phase in bilateral relations, showcasing both nations’ determination to expand cooperation while jointly safeguarding peace, stability, and the future of the Indo-Pacific region.
