Indonesia and Japan Announce 10 Business Collaborations Worth Rp 384.2 Trillion Witnessed by Prabowo, Here is the List
Indonesia and Japan have announced 10 memorandums of understanding and strategic partnership agreements between businesses from both nations, valued at US$22.6 billion or approximately Rp 384.2 trillion. The collaborations were announced at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan, today, witnessed directly by President Prabowo Subianto.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that at the forum, representatives from companies in both countries took turns presenting and showcasing the agreed collaborations in front of President Prabowo.
“This moment serves as a strong symbol of the commitment from Indonesian and Japanese businesses to expand concrete collaborations, while also demonstrating high confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects,” Teddy said, quoted from his statement on Monday, 30 March 2026.
He detailed that the announced collaborations cover various sectors, including the development of clean energy-based downstream projects such as methanol production from carbon emissions, exploration and development in the oil and gas sector, geothermal energy development, and strengthening inclusive financial ecosystems and strategic investments.
Here is the list of memorandums of understanding announced:
MoU on methanol production utilising CO2 emissions from PKT in Bontang, East Kalimantan, between PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and PT Kaltim Methanol Industry;
MoU on cooperation in trade, commerce, and investment between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
Strategic cooperation for the development of the Abadi gas field in the Masela Block, Indonesia, between PT Pertamina (Persero) and INPEX;
MoU for potential partnership opportunities in the upstream oil and gas sector in Indonesia and Southeast Asia between PT Pertamina Hulu Energi and INPEX;
MoU on the development of a semiconductor ecosystem in Indonesia and Japan; electronic chip design and manufacturing as well as artificial intelligence between PT Eblo Teknologi Indonesia and Hayashi Kinzoku Co., Ltd.;
MoU related to various studies towards the realisation of the Rajabasa Geothermal Power Plant Project between PT Supreme Energy Rajabasa and INPEX;
MoU between SMBC Indonesia and Pegadaian to contribute to Indonesia’s gold ecosystem and financial inclusion between PT Pegadaian and PT Bank SMBC Indonesia;
