Indonesia and Islamic Nations Discuss Joint Stance on Jerusalem

Istanbul (ANTARA) - Foreign ministers from Indonesia, Arab countries, and Islamic nations gathered in Jordan on Wednesday to formulate a joint stance on Jerusalem. The meeting took place amid increasing illegal Israeli actions that are seen as targeting the city’s identity and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, according to Jordan’s official news agency, Petra. The meeting was attended by members of the Arab ministerial committee tasked with confronting Israeli policies and actions in Jerusalem, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the foreign ministers of Turkiye, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The committee includes Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Iraq, Qatar, Egypt, and Morocco, as well as the Arab League Secretary-General. Jordan hosted the meeting due to its role as custodian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. The discussions took place against the backdrop of ongoing Israeli measures, which Arab and Islamic nations argue threaten Jerusalem’s identity, religious heritage, and historical status.
