Indonesia and Iran Discuss Vocational Training Cooperation and Job Access for People with Disabilities
The Indonesian and Iranian governments have discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in vocational training, employment social security systems, and expanding job access for people with disabilities. The talks were held as part of efforts to create a more inclusive world of work while enhancing worker competence and welfare.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that Indonesia welcomes the opportunity to broaden collaboration in the labour sector through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices that benefit both countries. “We believe there is great potential for Indonesia and Iran to expand collaboration through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices that can benefit both nations,” he said.
During a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare, Ahmad Meydari, on the sidelines of the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting in Hyderabad, India, both countries specifically highlighted expanding job access for people with disabilities. Indonesia and Iran exchanged views on policies that support improved access to training, skills development, and the creation of equal employment opportunities.
Furthermore, the cooperation is directed at strengthening vocational training. Through agreed study visits and knowledge exchanges, both countries are committed to supporting each other in improving the quality of job training to produce a more skilled and work-ready labour force. The two nations also discussed strengthening the employment social security system, with Indonesia encouraging the sharing of experiences in developing policies and programmes to expand social protection coverage while improving worker welfare.
Minister Yassierli also conveyed Indonesia’s readiness to share its experience in labour policy reform, workforce development, vocational training, and labour market governance. “We hope the ministries in both countries can explore concrete follow-up actions through technical exchanges, expert dialogues, and capacity-building programmes,” he said. He expressed hope that the bilateral meeting would serve as an initial step towards strengthening the Indonesia-Iran partnership through concrete cooperation in vocational training, employment social security, expanding job access for people with disabilities, and human resource development.
