JAKARTA, investor.id – President Prabowo Subianto and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi have agreed to strengthen economic cooperation between their countries. Indonesia and Egypt are committed to expanding market access and increasing investment, including through an initiative to establish a Joint Investment Fund.

“We have promoted the formation of an Economic Partnership Agreement to create broader opportunities for market access, investment and business involvement in both countries,” Prabowo said in a joint statement after the two leaders met at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday (11 October 2026).

Prabowo also welcomed the initiative by investment institutions in both countries to establish a Joint Investment Fund. The initiative is expected to strengthen investment flows and encourage the implementation of strategic projects that benefit the economies of Indonesia and Egypt.

“I also welcome the initiative to establish a Joint Investment Fund by the investment institutions of both countries to promote investment in strategic projects,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo said that stronger economic cooperation was part of efforts to deepen the longstanding strategic partnership between Indonesia and Egypt. The two countries have considerable scope to increase trade and investment ties through more concrete collaboration.

He said he was confident that the spirit of brotherhood underpinning bilateral relations would help the two countries build an increasingly close and productive partnership.

“I am confident that relations between Indonesia and Egypt will continue to grow closer and deliver more tangible benefits for both our nations and peoples,” he said.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of transforming bilateral relations so that cooperation between the two countries delivered tangible benefits, particularly in the economic and business sectors.

El-Sisi said he and Prabowo had discussed a number of opportunities to strengthen economic collaboration, including developing investment projects that were priorities for both countries.

“We both agreed to transform relations between our two countries so that the cooperation we undertake can truly be felt through its benefits,” El-Sisi said.

The two leaders also discussed opportunities for Egyptian companies to develop their businesses in Indonesia, and for Indonesian companies to expand their presence in Egypt.

According to El-Sisi, such cooperation could give businesses in both countries wider access to regional markets. Egypt holds a strategic position as a gateway to Arab and African markets and surrounding regions.
