JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus are being strengthened by optimising the trade and industrial sectors of both countries.

In order to open up more competitive markets for both countries, PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya, a company under the auspices of Jaya Group, has signed a business Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with several Belarusian companies worth a total of 7 trillion IDR.

CEO of Jaya Group Tomy Suhartanto affirmed that the establishment of PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya is a form of the company’s commitment to supporting bilateral relations between Indonesia and Belarus through concrete steps in the trade and industrial sectors.

According to Tomy, this cooperation aims to optimise the potential strengths of both countries so that they can be absorbed and utilised by each other’s markets.

“Our focus in this collaboration is to optimise all the potential that exists in both countries. Indonesia has commodities such as cocoa and palm oil, while Belarusian products that can be absorbed and utilised in Indonesia include dairy, cables and wires, and fertilizers,” he said.

PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya signed an MoU with several Belarusian companies, namely OJSC Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1, Energi Complekt, OJSC Dolomite, and Belindo Trade.

“Our aim in signing this MoU is not only to support the government but also to provide competitive advantages for the Indonesian market,” he said.

He also emphasised Jaya Group’s commitment to maintaining Indonesia’s reputation in international cooperation.

“Jaya Group is committed to upholding Indonesia’s good name and providing the best for the Indonesian nation,” Tomy affirmed.

“The agreements reached in this MoU must be translated into concrete steps that have a direct impact on improving economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus,” said Airlangga.

According to Tomy, the foundation of relations between the two countries has been built since the era of President Abdurrahman Wahid and has great potential to develop more optimally during the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.

Also present on this occasion were Indonesian Ambassador to Moscow Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso, Deputy Assistant for Bilateral Economic Cooperation Irwan Sinaga, Director of Europe II at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Punjul Setya Nugraha, and representatives from related ministries/agencies, APINDO, and KADIN Indonesia.
