Indonesia and Belarus Strengthen Cultural Diplomacy

Indonesia and Belarus are strengthening bilateral relations through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation. Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, stated that this cooperation is a strategic step in bringing together various creative elements, from artists and academics to arts institutions.

According to him, the essence of cultural diplomacy is building people-to-people relations, which serve as a strong foundation for relations between countries. Fadli Zon emphasised that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, culture is positioned as one of the main pillars in international relations. Culture is seen as a source of Indonesia’s soft power, capable of building global trust and opening up mutually beneficial spaces for cooperation.

‘Culture is a source of Indonesia’s soft power that can build trust, strengthen friendships, and open up mutually beneficial cooperation with various countries,’ said Fadli Zon after the signing ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7).

The MoU includes a broad and structured scope of cooperation to ensure programme sustainability. The agreement is valid for a period of five years from the date of signing and includes a clause for automatic extension based on mutual agreement between the two parties in the future.
