Indonesia and Belarus Finalise Roadmap Ahead of President Lukashenko's Visit

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov held a bilateral meeting to finalise the roadmap for Indonesia-Belarus cooperation, which is one of the main deliverables during Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Indonesia.

During the meeting, both parties discussed several concrete agendas that will be discussed during President Lukashenko’s visit to ensure that the visit produces more practical and results-oriented economic agreements.

“The document will be a measurable roadmap, covering cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, humanitarian affairs, socio-cultural aspects and others,” said Airlangga in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled to visit Indonesia in July 2026.

In addition, both parties discussed visa cooperation to increase the flow of tourists and business people. To facilitate bilateral relations, they also discussed plans to open an Indonesian Embassy in Minsk.

In the strategic industrial sector, both countries are encouraging cooperation in the field of electric vehicles, semiconductors, and the supply of potash fertiliser from Belarus, which is known to have abundant reserves. This cooperation is considered in line with Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its downstream industrial ecosystem and food security.

Meanwhile, in the trade sector, both parties also discussed the progress of the ratification of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA).

Furthermore, both parties also discussed a program to send Indonesian students and professionals, including in the field of health, to various Belarusian health institutions which are known for their good standards.

Airlangga welcomed the proposal and emphasised that the program should be expanded to areas that are a focus for the President of Indonesia, namely Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
