JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia and several countries have strongly condemned Israel’s attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla on 30 April 2026.

The countries joining in the condemnation are Turkey, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mauritania, Pakistan, South Africa, and Spain.

This statement was issued by the foreign ministers of the 13 countries and posted on the X account @Kemlu_RI of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (7/5/2026).

“We strongly condemn Israel’s attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a peaceful civilian humanitarian initiative aimed at drawing international attention to the humanitarian disaster in Gaza,” reads the post from the Kemlu RI X account.

The foreign ministers from the 13 countries also urged Israel to release the humanitarian activists who have been illegally detained.

“The Ministers also call on the international community to fulfil their moral and legal obligations to uphold international law, protect civilians, and ensure accountability for these violations,” the ministers declared.

For information, the Global Sumud Flotilla is a coalition of international humanitarian activists carrying aid to break through Israel’s blockade in Gaza.

This incident has sparked international condemnation, particularly due to the interception location, which is considered far from the Gaza blockade zone.

“Our ships were illegally surrounded by Israeli vessels,” states the official statement from the Global Sumud Flotilla.

Organisers claim that at least 22 out of the total 58 vessels in the flotilla have been raided by military forces.

“At the time of this statement’s issuance, Israeli forces have raided at least 22 flotilla vessels as a clear violation of international law,” the statement continued.

They stated that their colleagues have been abducted by Israel, while emphasising that their vessel was only carrying humanitarian aid.

“My ship was carrying school supplies and food,” said Scola.
