Indonesia Advances 26 Downstreaming Projects Under Direct Monitoring of President Prabowo
The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming has confirmed that 26 strategic national downstreaming projects are currently being directly monitored by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The government is actively pushing for the completion of these dozens of projects.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, explained that work on the 26 downstreaming projects is continuously progressing. He stressed that his ministry regularly submits detailed reports on the achievements of each project stage to Prabowo so that any obstacles can be promptly mitigated.
"Yes, it is ongoing. We also periodically report to the President on what stage has been reached, so it is truly being monitored by him," he said when met at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/6/2026).
In addition to pushing the execution of all 26 registered projects, the ministry is also targeting several potential new downstreaming projects deemed feasible for further development. "We are also currently reviewing several other downstreaming projects that are feasible and that we need going forward," Rosan said.
He confirmed that the domestic downstreaming focus would not be limited to just one commodity sector. Various other sectors are now being mapped to gain added value. "We will review them first, there are several, we will inform you later. It is not just the mineral sector, but other sectors as well," he stated.
The Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) is accelerating the implementation of these strategic national downstreaming projects as part of efforts to increase the added value of natural resources, strengthen national industry, and create jobs.
Dony Oskaria, Head of BUMN and COO of Danantara, said the 26 downstreaming projects, with a total investment value of Rp 225 trillion, are projected to absorb 37,833 workers. The projects are being carried out in two phases. The first phase, which began with a groundbreaking on 6 February 2026, includes six priority projects across 13 locations with an investment value of Rp 109 trillion and the potential to absorb 11,456 workers. The second phase, which commenced with a groundbreaking on 29 April 2026, covers 10 priority projects across 13 locations with an investment value of Rp 116 trillion and is expected to absorb 26,377 workers.
According to Dony, downstreaming must provide tangible benefits for the national economy, not only in terms of investment but also in its impact on society. "Downstreaming must not only generate investment but also create jobs, drive regional economies, and ensure the added value is enjoyed domestically," he said.
The projects span various strategic commodities, from the mining sector, such as the construction of aluminium, stainless steel, and copper smelters, to the energy and food sectors through the development of bioavtur and bioethanol facilities, palm oil processing, coconut industry, and integrated poultry farming. The investments are expected to create domestic added value, open new employment opportunities, and provide sustainable benefits for the Indonesian economy and society.
