In the future, collaboration in the development of rooftop solar power plants (PLTS Atap) is expected to expand further and accelerate the utilisation of solar energy across various sectors.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), PT PLN (Persero), and the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI) have collaborated to launch 1.3 GW of rooftop solar power plants (PLTS Atap) as an effort to accelerate the transition to cleaner energy in the country.

Director of Electricity Programme Development at the Ministry of ESDM, Ahmad Amiruddin, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that this marks an achievement and initial foundation towards the vision of developing 100 GW of national solar energy in line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto and Asta Cita.

“The development of 100 GW PLTS is a strategic step in line with Asta Cita, particularly in realising energy self-sufficiency, strengthening downstreaming, and promoting national energy independence,” said Ahmad.

Furthermore, he stated that the initiative to launch 1.3 GW PLTS Atap aligns with national development priorities, including supporting the implementation of PT PLN’s 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) and increasing the share of new renewable energy (EBT).

Additionally, Director of Retail and Trading at PT PLN (Persero), Adi Priyanto, added that the launch of 1.3 GW PLTS Atap is also in line with efforts to prepare the foundation for future economic growth and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a key player in the energy transition in Southeast Asia (ASEAN).

“In the future, collaboration in the development of PLTS Atap is expected to expand further and accelerate the utilisation of solar energy across various sectors,” said Adi.

“With support from various parties, Indonesia has great potential to achieve the national solar energy development targets while strengthening Indonesia’s role in the regional energy transition in ASEAN,” he added.

“With a maturing industrial ecosystem, AESI is ready to be a strategic partner to the government in accelerating the implementation of PLTS and realising Indonesia’s energy transition targets,” said Mada.
