Indomobil car sales rise 43%
JAKARTA: PT Indomobil Sukses Internasional, Indonesia's third-
largest automobile distributor by value, said car sales in the
first four months of the year rose 43 percent as more people
bought vehicles made by Suzuki Motor Corp and three other
Japanese automakers.
Sales rose to 42,097 in the period from 29,549 in the same
period a year ago, President Director Gunadi Sinduwinata said.
The sales were led by Suzuki, which is 20 percent owned by
General Motors Corp., Nissan Motor Co. and Mazda Motor Corp.
Indomobil sell cars made by nine automakers.
"The rise in sales was more than we expected," Sinduwinata
announced in Jakarta.
The company also plans to start importing Suzuki's Swift sedan
to sell in the Southeast Asian nation.-- Bloomberg
