Several brands are now under the auspices of Indomobil Group. Currently, several Chinese brands under Indomobil Group include GAC, Maxus, and Changan. In addition, Leapmotor and the luxury car brand Hongqi will follow in the future. “So we have to look at the world’s position, Chinese products’ position is already different, the quality is already good, the precision is already there, the price is also extraordinary, that can’t be denied,” said Andrew in Beijing, China, on Friday (24/4/2026). According to him, perceptions of Chinese products also need to be viewed more objectively. This is because there is still a widespread notion that Chinese brands are synonymous with “second-class” products. Nevertheless, Andrew emphasised that the abundance of Chinese brands under Indomobil does not mean the company is oriented towards a particular country. In other words, China is viewed as a global manufacturing centre with high efficiency and strong competitiveness, not merely a brand identity. “We see it this way, the Indonesian market needs education,” said Andrew. He assessed that this education is important so that consumers understand that Chinese automotive products today have experienced significant improvements, both in terms of quality, technology, and competitive pricing.
