Indomaret Workers Stage Protest in North Jakarta's PIK with Six Demands

Thousands of Indomaret workers affiliated with PUK SPAI FSPMI PT Indomarco Prismatama staged a protest outside Indomaret Tower in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The demonstration raised several worker rights demands, including issues over overtime pay and allegations of employee intimidation.

Metro Jakarta North Police spokesperson Maryatti Jonggi confirmed the protest, stating, ‘Yes, there is a demonstration; security at 7 AM WIB,’ when questioned on Monday, May 25, 2026.

FSPMI Indomarco representatives estimated the crowd size at approximately 2,500 people, comprising Indomaret workers from Jabodetabek and other trade union federations.

The protesters marched towards the demonstration site at the junction of Marina Raya Road and Pantai Indah Kapuk Road, carrying banners and posters.

One banner read, ‘Indomaret employees’ promise to uphold intervention, intimidation, repression,’ in a sarcastic tone.

Upon arrival, the crowd began speeches and performed sholawat.

Authorities implemented a contraflow traffic arrangement along Marina Raya Road towards Pantai Indah Kapuk Road.

Consequently, vehicles from Marina Raya Road could not directly access the Outer Ring Road toll road and had to detour via PIK Avenue.

This caused traffic queues along Marina Raya Road in the morning.
