Indomaret Workers Report Intimidation Over New Overtime Scheme
JAKARTA — Several Indomaret workers have reported intimidation, including threats of demotion and termination, for refusing to accept a new overtime scheme that replaces national holiday overtime pay with regular holiday leave. Winda Ayu, a worker at the Indomaret Tangerang 1 branch, told Kompas.com on Tuesday (26 May 2026) that supervisors, such as assistant store managers (ASM), warned of no promotions to store manager or assistant store manager positions. ‘You won’t get promoted, you’ll be moved to another store like this,’ she said. Ahmad Saifudin, another Indomaret worker, claimed intimidation occurred across multiple branches since early May 2026. ‘Workers are required to sign agreements approving the new overtime scheme,’ he said. ‘Colleagues were intimidated and forced to sign either agreeing or disagreeing. For example, contract employees who refuse to sign have their contracts not renewed.’ Indomaret workers affiliated with PUK SPAI FSPMI PT Indomarco Prismatama plan to protest at Indomaret Tower, Jalan Pantai Indah Kapuk No. 1, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (26 May 2026). Their demands include:
Rejecting the removal of national holiday overtime pay.
Halting intimidation and coercion of workers.
Combating union-busting and interference.
Stopping illegal terminations disguised as voluntary resignations.
Rejecting company policies that disadvantage workers.
Establishing a fair and dignified collective labor agreement (PKB) immediately.
