Indomaret Workers Protest at Ministry of Manpower Building, Demand Immediate Fulfillment of Demands
Jakarta, Kompas.com - Workers from PT Indomarco Prismatama, commonly known as Indomaret, held a protest outside the Ministry of Manpower building on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (26 May 2026) afternoon.
According to Kompas.com’s observations at the scene, Indomaret employees were seated across the pavement and car park areas.
They arrived on buses marked with Konfederasi Serikat Pekerja Indonesia (KSPI) and FSPMI.
Unlike their earlier demonstration in front of the Indomaret Tower in North Jakarta this morning, they were now seated awaiting the outcome of mediation between worker representatives and PT Indomarco Prismatama management.
“This came from PIK because there’s mediation here; managers are discussing the demands, and union representatives are also present,” said Hasan (28), an Indomaret employee participating in the protest, speaking to Kompas.com on Tuesday.
Another Indomaret employee, Agung (26), expressed hope that workers’ welfare demands would be prioritised and fulfilled by the company.
He explained that retail workers face heavy workloads and high responsibilities, which often do not align with the welfare they receive.
“Even during major holidays and public holidays, instead of receiving overtime pay, we’re just given days off, as if we’re not valued,” Agung said.
He added that Indomaret employees rarely stage protests on the streets, and this level of action indicates serious issues.
“If we’re at this point (protesting), it means things are really bad. There’s a lot that needs fixing, especially the intimidation,” he said.
“Ultimately, it must be fair, it must side with us, not just for the company’s profit. If the government can’t help create justice, where else can we demand it?” he added.
Previously, Indomaret workers under PUK SPAI FSPMI PT Indomarco Prismatama had staged a protest at the Indomaret Tower on Jalan Pantai Indah Kapuk No. 1, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Tuesday morning.
After finishing the protest at the Indomaret Tower, the workers moved to the Ministry of Manpower building.
During the protests, the workers presented six demands.
