Indomaret Strengthens Store Transformation Through Themed Shopping Experiences
PT Indomarco Prismatama (Indomaret) is continuing to strengthen its store transformation by offering a more interactive shopping experience for consumers. The strategy is being implemented through the launch of a school supplies collection featuring popular characters and the provision of themed decorations in several outlets. Marcomm Executive Director of PT Indomarco Prismatama, Bastari Akmal, stated that this move is part of the company’s effort to deliver a shopping experience that is more relevant to customer interests. “In February 2026, we released five Pokémon-themed cups at Point Coffee Indomaret. This release showed great enthusiasm from customers and the public, especially from Pokémon fans. Seeing this positive response, we are again presenting a Pokémon-themed collection with a wider variety of product choices and designs,” Bastari said. The newly introduced collection consists of school supplies, such as water bottles, lunch boxes, and pencil cases featuring Pokémon character designs. In addition to presenting the products, Indomaret has also decorated two of its stores in South Jakarta and South Tangerang with a Pokémon theme to provide visitors with a different shopping experience. According to Bastari, the development of the store concept does not only focus on providing daily necessities but also on delivering added value through a more engaging shopping experience. “We hope the presence of this collection can provide a more enjoyable shopping experience while also being an attractive choice for Pokémon fans and Indomaret customers in general,” he said. Meanwhile, Head of Business Development at AKG Entertainment, Reyhan Syofyano, said the collaboration is part of an effort to expand Pokémon’s presence in Indonesia through activities that are close to the community. “The launch of the Pokémon School Collection and the Pokémon Trading Card Game ‘Ancaman Bayangan’ is part of our effort to bring the Pokémon experience closer to the daily lives of fans. Amidst the enthusiasm for welcoming the latest card series, fans can also find Pokémon through various products that are relevant to their activities,” Reyhan said. According to him, the collaboration between the character license holder and the retailer reflects the growing trend of intellectual property (IP)-based products in Indonesia. The presence of themed products and store concepts is considered one strategy to reach fan communities while enriching the consumer shopping experience. This trend shows that retailers are no longer competing solely on price and product completeness, but are also creating experiences that enhance consumer interaction with brands through various creative collaborations.
