Indofood's profits soar

JAKARTA (JP): Publicly-listed noodles manufacturer PT Indofood
Sukses Makmur of the Salim Group announced yesterday a net income
of Rp 126.6 billion (US$57.54 million) for the six months ended
in June, representing an increase of 50.2 percent over the same
period of last year.

The company said in a statement that its consolidated net
sales rose 17.4 percent, from Rp 657.1 billion in the first six
months of last year to Rp 771.2 billion in the January-June
period, while its gross profit grew by 24 percent, from Rp 223.3
billion to Rp 289.9 billion.

The company's instant noodles division posted a 16 percent
growth in total sales, which reached Rp 673 billion. (04)
